This Antique Japanese cypress wood cabinet is designed specifically for tea ceremonies, providing a convenient storage solution where traditional kitchen equipment is not required.

The cabinet features impressive sliding doors made of wickerwork, enhancing ventilation within the storage space. This technique involves using thick, flat, and uniform pieces of wood, with intersections spaced out by 2 or 3 and stitches staggered for a seamless finish. The diagonal weaves are tightly woven without any gaps, resulting in a visually stunning and durable weave. This unique method allows for the creation of distinctive patterns and has been utilised in various household items such as ceilings and folding screens.

Remaining tea can be drained through the shelf into the bottom drawer without opening it. This is a functional chest of drawers with excellent ventilation, as well as storage for tea utensils such as tea bowls, ladles, and whisk.

In modern homes, the light colour of cypress and the sleek design of the cabinet make it a versatile fit for any space. The wicker work doors add an unique accent, adding both functionality and aesthetic appeal to the room’s decor.
