Japanese ‘Isho Tansu (衣装箪笥)’ are traditional chests used for storing clothing, textiles, and personal belongings. “Isho” translates to “clothing” or “apparel,” indicating the primary purpose of these chests.
These chests typically feature a variety of drawers, compartments, and sliding panels, allowing for efficient organization of clothing and accessories. This Japanese Antique furniture is a well-made, stylish Isho Tansu from the late 19the or early 20th century.
It comes with a stand for the easy use in a modern house. Fully restored, waxed, and functionable with a set of keys.
The drawer facade is made of chestnut, and finished with a beautiful dark red lacquer, still showing the natural wood grain.
The drawers are equipped with decorative a round iron plate with cherry blossom (桜/sakura flower) emblem in the middle. The drawer handle’s plate is designed with pine tree (松/matsu) branches.
