An exquisite Antique Japanese ‘Yonezawa (米沢)’ Display Cabinet, a timeless fusion of traditional craftsmanship and elegant functionality.

Yonezawa is a castle town in the north of Japan’s main island, ‘Honshu.’ The history of Yonezawa Tansu (Cabinet) dates back to 16th century. Yonezawa Tansu is made of lacquered wood such as zelkova, chestnut, paulownia, and cedar. It features a large, round, hand-hammered metal lock fitting, which is both functional and beautiful, decorated with butterflies, cherry blossoms, and jewels, etc.

This cabinet features multiple compartments and drawers, offering ample space to organise your objects with ease. It also adds a touch of refinement to your home.

The bottom drawers are decorated with a large round metal crest of three oak leaves. The misaligned shelves in the centre is the typical Japanese Tea cabinets feature.
The decorations placed on both ends of the top and the shelves came from the architectural style of the roofs of palaces, Buddhist temples, etc.
